I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for Cliff's Descent. I discovered Dianne Duvall's books couple years ago and gorged on all of them in one go. Waiting for each new release is a special kind of torture, but so worth it because they are always AMAZING! I'm sure Cliff's Descent will be no exception. For the first time EVER, we're going to get a story not about one of our beloved Immortal Guardians, but about a VAMPIRE. Fans of the series are all in love with Cliff. Mrs. Clare: Hi, Dianne! Thank you for joining us today! I want to dive right in talking about our beloved Cliff. How did you feel when everyone started falling in love with Cliff and rooting for him to survive? Did you always intend for his story to continue, or did your fans love for him drive it?

Dianne: I was thrilled when everyone started rooting for Cliff. It’s exciting to see a secondary character come to mean so much to readers and audiobook lovers. I had no idea when I created a series in which vampires all descended into insanity and became bad guys that one would end up tugging at my heartstrings so much. But Cliff is such an honorable man, smart and kind. The more I saw him fighting valiantly to hold back the madness, the more I wanted to tell his story.

Mrs. Clare: When did you know that Cliff was going to be integral to the big battle in Death of Darkness, and will readers get his POV of those events in Cliff’s Descent?

Dianne: The closer I came to writing Death of Darkness, the more the role Cliff would play in it became clear. Cliff was struggling so much in Blade of Darkness. I knew I would have to reveal his fate soon. And yes, readers will get his POV of those events in Cliff’s Descent. Those moments were crucial to his story, and I really wanted you all to see things from his perspective.

Mrs. Clare: We don’t know a lot about Emma yet, but it must take a really courageous person to open their heart to someone who is spiraling with very little hope of recovery. Is there anything that you can share about her character?

Dianne: Courageous is most definitely a word I would use to describe Emma. She doesn’t shy away from difficulty. At all. She’s also fiercely protective of those she loves. And she loves Cliff like she has never loved another. Emma knows he’s worth fighting for, and she will fight for him with every breath in her body. I really like her. :-)
